This is an ongoing collection of hands-on experiments with living and bio-based materials. I use making as a way to understand how these materials grow, dry, change and respond to different processes.The experiments include paper made from birch polypore, SCOBY-based sheets grown through fermentation, tests with mycelium and mushroom-based leather (amadou) made from the horse hoof fungus. I am interested in the point where making becomes a collaboration with a living material that cannot be fully controlled by me.
